Northwest

Northwest (NW or N.W.) is the northern quadrant in Washington, D.C. Columbia the capital city of Washington, D.C. in the United States, and is situated north of the National Mall and west of North Capitol Street. It is the biggest among the quadrants that comprise this city (NW, NE, SW, and SE) and comprises the Central Business District. It is also known as the Federal Triangle, the museums on the northern edge of the National Mall, and some of the district’s more historic neighborhoods.

Landmarks

Northwest has many colleges. The region is home to numerous colleges, which include American University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Howard University, and the University of the District of Columbia. Northwest includes several secondary and primary schools, many of which are public schools run through DCPS (District of Columbia Public Schools). The region is home to 44 DCPS schools in the Northwest and a variety of private schools, such as St John’s College High School, Sidwell Friends School, Gonzaga College High School, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, and Georgetown Day School, among other schools. Capital One Arena Capital One Arena, home of the Washington Wizards, the Washington, CO Capitals, and the Georgetown Hoyas, and the site for numerous performances and other events are located within the district’s Chinatown in the Northwest. In addition, the National Cathedral, the White House, Rock Creek Park, and Embassy Row are also in the quadrant.

Transportation

Northwest is divided by the Potomac River west, Western Avenue and Eastern Avenue to the north, North Capitol Street to the east, and The National Mall to the south. Other major roads are Connecticut Avenue between Chevy Chase and the White House, Wisconsin Avenue between Friendship Heights and Georgetown, Pennsylvania Avenue between Georgetown and the Capitol, K Street, Massachusetts Avenue (home to Embassy Row), and 16th Street. Northwest is accessible via all six lines within Washington Metro: The Orange, Silver, Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green Lines. Numerous Metrobus routes pass through the quadrant as well as there is the DC Circulator.

Horse Riding

A trail ride through DC’s 1,800 acres of the wooded park is offered almost daily throughout the year. Ride your horse to the Rock Creek Park Horse Center for a guided walk of one hour along shady trails by the creek. The rides are available to children aged 12 and over. EZ Bed Bug Exterminator Washington DC

Gape

The former home of the cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post is home to one of the most important art collections. Russian Imperial art, which she acquired during the USSR immediately following the Communist revolution. Her home and various outbuildings exhibit an impressive collection of French, Native American, and European antiques. In warmer seasons, there’s a manicured garden famous for roses.
